Armogeddon 6 - 19th June 2011

Shoreline Events Ltd and the Yorkshire Paintball Centre are delighted to present:

Armo-Geddon 6
Officially the cheapest scenario event in the UK!

For Armo-Geddon 6, Shoreline and YPC have done something a little bit special. This game will be a no-nonsense, old fashioned, balls out, paintball game - organised by the best in the business at the best facility.

There'll be no Saturday activities, no fancy website, no free beer, no over complicated scenario, no dancing girls, no street full of traders, no chocolate fountains and no glossy marketing campaign. Just a fantastic gun fight that'll rage all day long.............and we're making it as cheap for players as we possibly can!

Armo-Geddon 6 will be all about us giving something back to the players.

Where?
At the Yorkshire Paintball Centre (YPC), Skipworth, York, YO8 5SW

One of the UK's best and longest established paintball venues and recent host of the Super6 event WOR.

When?
19th June 2011

Who will be leading the teams?
We're also doing something radically different in terms of the Generals. With more and more younger players playing the game, we decided that we'd give youth a chance to shine by choosing two Generals from the next generation of paintball players who are coming through the ranks.

Leading the Forces of Good will be:
Courtney 'Mouth' Gell of the Rebel Renegades.
Courtney was the 2010 winner of the UK Scenario Young Player of the Year award and a key player in the massive Rebel Renegade team. Already a well known face on the scenario scene, this will be Courtneys chance to show all the old fogies in his team what leadership is all about.

Leading the Forces of Evil will be:
Jarreth 'Shorty' Holden of the Dog Soldiers.
In his very first season as a player, Jarreth was short listed for Young Player of the Year, played overseas in Europe and is booked in to play Call To Duty III in Croatia later this season. Whilst being a member of the hard playing Dog Soldiers outfit, Jarreth is not overawed by his more experienced and uglier team mates and is happy to trade paint with the best of 'em.

What's the prize?
The winning General will take ownership of the coverted Shoreline/YPC Sword of Retribution. A six foot long broadsword mounted on a hand made wooden plinth that can be mounted on the wall of the winning General until next years game.

Shorty will be under pressure to retain the trophy after his Dog Soldiers took the honours last time around and will come in for merciless treatment if he lets it slip from the teams grasp. But Mouth has other ideas and fully intends to return to Renegade HQ with the Sword as his treasure.

Who is organising what?
This will be a joint event between Shoreline Events Ltd and YPC. Both companies will be jointly running this event. As hosts of the first two Super6 events - you know you're in good hands with both Shoreline and YPC.

How much?
£15 per ticket.
Officially the cheapest scenario game the UK has ever seen.

Can I pay on the day?
Yep - but it'll cost you an extra fiver - £20 instead of £15.

Why does it cost more to pay on the day?
Because it's a nightmare for us to administer and plan the event without a decent idea as to how many people are coming in advance. As with any event, we need to plan staffing levels, stock levels for food and paint etc, ensure there is enough staging, armbands, chrono's and general infrastructure. Whilst a few players turning up on the day is not a massive problem, if 50% arrived unannounced it would spoil the event. So to discourage all players to just turn up on the day we make it cheaper to pre-book because it makes our lives so much easier. We'd rather everyone book in before the event on the cheaper rate than take more money and loads turn up on the day.

Why is this event so cheap? - There must be a catch!
Both Shoreline and YPC are run by paintball players. As players ourselves, we know that times are currently tough and many players are feeling the economic squeeze. Players currently have a choice of Super6 events where tickets are £50 and the event spans an entire weekend with more activities than you can shake a stick at. They are excellent value when compared to how paintball used to be or what some other events offer.

But an entire weekend of paintball can often still be beyond many players means, no matter how good the event may be.

So we thought there was currently no high quality games offering players a top game of paintball but without breaking the bank. So we've put our heads together and have come up with a format where players can get the best quality paintball game from companies like Shoreline and YPC at one of the UK's best venues, but on a budget. By striping the event down to a single day and taking out all the extras from a Super6 weekend players can get all the on field action of a balls out gunfight at a fraction of the price.

There isn't really a catch.

Can I bring my own paint?
Simple answer is no. Because the event is so cheap, we'll try and cover our costs with the ticket sales and sale of paint. Fat Bobs will be at the site and selling paint.

Ahhh.....so I've found the catch, I bet paint will be £50 a box or something!!!!

er.....nope. There'll be a range of brands and qualities of paint available starting at £25 a box as per Super6 events. So no catch there I'm afraid.

This game sounds perfect for a new player - can I rent kit for my friend?
Yep. If you let us know, you can rent kit from YPC for a tenner. This will include everything a player will need to play including battle pack, mask, gun, hopper, HPA bottle, barrel sock and pods. Bring your own camo though.

What about traders and tech support?
Fat Bobs will be onsite throughout the weekend.

There will be tech support on site for the following brands:
- Dye
- Smart Parts
- Planet Eclipse
- MacDev
- AGD
- Proto
- Empire

Fat Bobs will have loads of kit available to purchase on the day and you can pre-order anything from their shop to ensure it'll be sitting there on site for you when you arrive. Just call 01977 689234 to sort any items that you need.

What about photographers and video - will there be any?
Yep - Bradlo Photography will be attending and you'll be able to download the pics from the game online after the event. We'll also have a video made of the game which you'll be able to download for free.

Will the game format be the same as Super6/2?
There will be elements that you recognise in this game from Super6/2 - but to be perfectly honest, Armo-Geddon 6 will be deliberately designed to be more of a gun fight and slightly less complex than WOR. The respawns will be changed so that you don't have to walk anywhere near as far to respawn and get back into the fight, there'll be less side missions and much more big scraps. The last half an hour or so will see 100% of the players fighting ON the Bridge. It'll be a brutal closing period with both teams scrapping inch by inch across the Bridge, grenades will count as kills and we'll rig pyro beneath the Bridge to add deafening and pant wetting explosions, dirt lifts and flame lifts - it really will feel like the end of days!

Will there be prizes?
Probably not. What we'd prefer to do on this game is auction off any prizes that we have to raise a few quid for Support for Soldiers. It's a brilliant cause and there'll be enough prizes dished out at other games. For this game, we'll turn the prizes into money to donate to this charity.

When will all the game information be out?
We'll release a full player pack before the event so that you can make plans etc. The game will run to standard Shoreline/YPC rules (i.e. 280fps, no burst or full auto, no overshooting). In a slight change, we'll be introducing a 'Grenades can Kill' rule - but full details on that will be in the Player Pack.

Where can I get more information?
To be honest -what more info do you need? To keep the cost down for the players, we'll not be doing any fancy websites or promo videos. If you've got a question you can post up in this forum and either Andy or Tim will answer for you.

Conclusion
In a nutshell, this is a nice simple situation: This game will be deliberately designed to be a massive gun fight. Sure, there'll be an element of strategy and tactics, but nowhere near as much as a Super6 game. This game will be designed to have all the players running around shooting and grinning. It'll be organised to the usual standard you'd expect from Shoreline and YPC and it'll be held at an amazing venue. This'll be a players game for players and it'll cost 15 quid.
